Each class visits the library once during each six day rotation. After our library skills lesson, students have a chance to check out books. Fourth grade students will check out books every other time they visit the library. Other grade levels will check out books each rotation. Students may check out books at additional times if they have a pass from their classroom teacher.

Number of Books Allowed

Kindergarten may have two books checked out at a time.

Students in 1st through 4th grades may have three books checked out at a time. 

Books for class projects, guided reading groups, and school  literacy events such as book clubs do not count toward student check out limits.

Renewals

All students may renew books unless the book is on hold for another student.

Books are due by the next library class after they are checked out. Please make sure the books are returned to the library by your class's library day.

Day 3: Ms. Krisher, Ms. Tepp, Ms. Olkowski, Ms. Zellner

Day 5: Ms. Ehle, Ms. Jensen, Ms. Nash, Mr. Helmke, Ms. Staege, Mr. Bruce, Ms. Frey, Ms. Bibby, Ms. Frierdich

Day 6: Mr. Jenny, Ms. Chitwood, Mr. Follen, Mr. Emmert, Ms. Loy

 

Overdue Policies

There are no overdue fines, but students who do not return books will not be allowed to check out a new book until the overdue book is returned. (Students may check out as many books as they have returned.)

Overdue notices are sent home using email or  backpack mail.

Lost Books

Library staff will attempt to contact families directly if a book has been overdue for an extended period of time. Families may choose to take more time to search for the book, or they may request that the book be marked lost in the system and a fine created.

If there is no communication from families, the book(s) will be marked lost at the end of the year, and a fine will be created and entered into Infinite Campus for payment. 

We cannot refund fines for lost items if they are returned more than a year after they were marked lost.

Damaged Books

Library staff will determine if books or other items damaged by water spills, pets, etc. can be returned to the shelf. If the book must be replaced, a fine amount will be assessed that will not exceed the cost of the item.

End of Year Procedures

LMTC Directors will publish a schedule of due dates in the school family newsletter. Any books not returned by the end of the year will be marked lost and a replacement fine will be entered into Infinite Campus. 

After fines are transferred to students’ Infinite Campus accounts, their LMTC record for library materials will be cleared.
